Doing it this way means no messing around in the fuse box trying to find the ign+ve fuses/looking for a decent grounding point, the cig lighter module does everything properly PLUS it contains the necessary 12V-5V step down converter for the device (normally when I wire these in, I connect the module to the fuse box and then have to stuff the bulky thing somewhere behind the dash/carpets).
